Lionel Messi’s father and agent, Jorge Messi has confirmed that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner wants to return to FC Barcelona.

On Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain announced Messi’s exit from the Ligue 1 champions after joining them two years from Barca.

At the time, the Catalan giants and Messi couldn’t agree onto a contract extension amid the club’s ongoing financial troubles.

On Monday, Messi’s father met with FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta to discuss the Argentine’s potential return, according to various Spanish media.

Jorge Messi was caught on his way by journalists and confirmed his son would like to return to Camp Nou.

“Leo wants to return to Barça and I would also like him to return. We trust that Leo can return,” he said, as per Jijantes.

Messi joined PSG from FC Barcelona in 2021 and has made 74 appearances for the French giants, scoring 32 goals and setting up 35 more.

He has several big-money offers, but is understood to be keen to return to FC Barcelona. However, much will depend on whether the club will be able to stump up the finances.

Meanwhile, Messi has also received a massive €400 million offer from Saudi side Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, where he could follow his long-term rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
