Meals On Wheels Community Services (MOWCS) South Africa CEO has announced that the non-profit organisation will be hosting activations nationally in collaboration with strategic partners for Mandela Day.

MOWCS in partnership with PEPSICO, Vodacom, Standard Bank and Capitec Bank Limited will be Making a difference this Mandela by providing over 10 000 cooked meals and planting over 3000 vegetable crops for poverty-stricken communities.

These activations are aligned with the strategic objectives of the organisation, which is Poverty Alleviation, Food Security and Self-sustainability said the CEO.

The key focus for this Mandela Day is to strengthen our collaboration with strategic partners in making an impactful change for 67 minutes in memory of the great late Icon, tata Mandela.

“It is very evident that Corporates are no longer just about the profits, they also want to get involved in improving the lives of the communities around them. They no longer wait for NPOs to reach out to them but they themselves knock at the doors to partner with organizations like MOWCS”, Said Nelisa.

For MOWCS, making an impact in the communities is not only on Mandela day, but a continuation of what the organisation does on daily basis.

The success of the organisation will be measured on the ability to decrease the lines of people queuing to receive a plate of food through skills empowerment.

This, we cannot achieve alone, we need to sit around the table with key role players in different sectors and tackle serious issues such as unemployment, climate changes and food insecurity to better the lives of the communities of our country.

MOWCS would like to thank all the strategic partners that chose to collaborate with the organisation to make a significant change this Mandela Day, and calling on more strategic partners to come on board beyond Mandela Day to ensure that poverty is no longer a pandemic in our country and globally.
