Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki has backed midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane’s late Bafana Bafana call-up.

Mdantsane was called up on Monday to replace Percy Tau who withdrew due to personal issues.

The talented midfielder has had a slow start to his first season with the Soweto giants in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership campaign. He has made 10 appearances and provided two assists.

The last time Mdantsane donned the Bafana jersey was back in 2021. He played against Zimbabwe in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

WHY MOLEFI NTSEKI IS BACKING MDUDUZI MDANTSANE

Ntseki is happy Mdantsane got a Bafana call-up. He believes he has something positive to offer.

“We congratulate Mdu Mdantsane for getting a call-up into the national team. And I think all our players at Kaizer Chiefs whether local or international players, all of them are looking forward to being selected for their national teams,” said Ntseki.

“I think with Mdu Mdantsane what the national team coaches are looking for in their scouting is what Mdu Mdantsane can give to them.

“We can only wish him the best of luck in the national team. Also wish the national team the best of luck in their preparation going into Afcon.”

MDANTSANE WILL ACQUIRE EXPERIENCE IN HANDLING PRESSURE AT CHIEFS ACCORDING TO NTSEKI

Ntseki hopes Mdantsane will use the national team experience to help Amakhosi who are yet to gel this season.

“I think the qualities that made us bring Mdu Mdantsane to the club are for us to celebrate and to see him growing and getting national team call-up.

“I think the experience of playing for the national team will also come back to Kaizer Chiefs and help us in terms of our game understanding and in terms of how to handle the pressure of playing for Kaizer Chiefs.

“So we wish him, Mdu Mdantsane and the rest of the guys that have been selected to the national team to do well for the country,” Ntseki added.

The 28-year-old is in line to feature when Bafana take on neighbours Eswatini and Ivory Coast in friendly matches. The two matches will take place on 13 and 17 October respectively.
