Matthews – Why We Signed Nange

SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews has revealed why his side went after midfielder Phathutshezdo Nange after he parted with Kaizer Chiefs.

Matsatsantsa announced Nange’s arrival on Wednesday, a few days after Amakhosi had confirmed that the midfielder’s expiring contract will not be confirmed.

The 31-year-old featured in 31 games for Chiefs but only five in 2022/23, with his campaign disrupted by injuries.

However, Matthews has insisted SSU believe Nange is not past his peak and still has a lot to offer.

“Phathu Nange is a player we have liked for some time, so it’s great that we have been able to secure him on a free contract from Kaizer Chiefs,” he said.

“Having played for Gavin before, we are confident he will hit the ground running and give our midfield a boost with goals and assists as he did at Stellenbosch, Bidvest Wits and Black Leopards before.”

Nange becomes SuperSport’s second official signing after left-back Ronald Pfumbidzai, who joined the club on a free transfer from Chippa United.
