Maritzburg United have released eight players as they begin their preparations for the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.
The Team of Choice finished in 14th place under head coach Middendorp, five points from safety and will now look to build on the season, having languished around the drop zone for most of their campaign.
Having lost key players like Thabiso Kutumela, Bongokuhle Hlongwane, Bandile Shandu, Kwanda Mngonyama at the start of last season, the KZN-based outfit had a host of new faces and an ageing squad that struggled to find consistency under the German mentor and notably lacked goals.
However, the club has now confirmed seven exits with a clear squad rebuild plan now, as they look to rope in new talent ahead of next season.
