Manousakis To Know His Future At Bay Next Week

The future of Richards Bay FC coach Vasili Manousakis will be made clear sometime next week, according to the iDiski Times sources.

Manousakis was appointed as the club head coach on 20 March on a permanent basis until the end of the season.

This after the former AmaZulu assistant coach was sharing the coaching role as the co-coach with Pitso Dladla, with the latter dropping to be his assistant.

This reshuffling in the technical team was cut apart as the Bay was struggling to get the results, with the club making changes with the aim to stop the losing rot.

It didn’t stop as Manousakis did not win in any of the seven matches he was in charge of the club. They were dragged into the relegation zone, despite being second in the table before the league was paused due to the FIFA World Cup in November.

“Vasili’s future will be clear sometime next week if ever the club will keep him or not,” said the source.

Manousakis was appointed as the technical advisor before this season started.

But when 2022/23 was about to get underway when the club unveiled new players, Manousakis saw his role changed, with club chairman Sifiso Biyela promoting him to share the duty with Dladla.

While things were smooth sailing in the first round, it was tough in the second round as they had to overcome a trauma after the sad passing of their captain Sphamandla Mtolo.

It led to Bay being amongst relegation candidates, finishing 13th in the DStv Premiership table with 33 points. They went 15 games in all competitions without a win, with the club’s last victory coming away against relegated Marumo Gallants in February.

The club’s premier division status was only saved after they drew with Royal AM in the last game of the season at home.
