Malesela Reacts To Confed Cup Draw

Marumo Gallants head coach Dan Malesela says he and technical team are going to do research on their opponents in the CAF Confederations Cup Group A.
The Limpopo side were drawn in the group alongside Algeria’s USM Alger, Akhdar SC of Libya and FC Saint Eloi from DR Congo on Monday.
Bahlabane ba ntwa booked their spot in the group stages of the inter club intercontinental tournament, for the first time by defeating last season’s semi-finalists, Al Ahli Tripoli along the way.
Malesela told IDiski Times that he needs a fresh perspective as far as the opponents are concerned.
“We were busy today trying to find out some things about the teams we are playing, we are planning to see where we can get clips because you know these teams change every time. It’s been a while since I’ve seen some of these teams and the Algerian side played against Cape Town City, I think,” he said.
“We are just trying to see if we can get clips of their recent matches and just have a look on what to expect. These teams, some of them I saw them a few years ago because playing personnel changes and coaching personnel changes from time to time.
“So people won’t be the same as they were three years back. We just want to get the recent clips and see how we can react to that.
“But the most important thing is for us to focus more on ourselves. Yes we respect that we have to watch and see the opponents but we firstly must look at ourselves and say what do we do? Already as you can see the trips are in the North.
“Those are some of the things we have to worry about. We have to go to Libya again, which was not an easy trip for us. So we just have to see how we plan around that. I think the games will be played around the 9th of February somewhere on that weekend, I’m not sure, so we’ll see how we plan.”
Malesela and his charges have been training ahead of the resumption of the domestic league at the end of the year and he says the league games are important and he is happy his charges are doing well in training.
The coach adds that having already been to Libya this season and DRC in the last campaign, they do have an idea of what to expect insisting the need for a fresher look. The former Chippa United and Royal AM coach also hopes to make some signings in the upcoming transfer window.
“I’m more worried about the away matches than the home matches. I’m also waiting to see if we can beef up the squad, if we are allowed in this opening period to be able to register some players,” concluded the coach.
