Magesi FC, established in 2011, booked their spot in the ABC Motsepe league playoffs final with a 2-1 victory over NWU. The timely victory cemented their promotion to the GladAfrica Championship.

The Limpopo club was founded by Solly Makhubela in his community in Ga-Moletjie, and were previously was promoted in 2016 too, under the same coach Jacky Ledwaba. They join MM Platinum (La Masia) in the final of the ABC Motsepe league playoffs, and subsequently reached the GladAfrica Championship by beating North West University at Olen Park, Potchefstroom on Friday afternoon in the second semi-final.

It was obvious that as the game continued that a goal was needed to break it open. Both teams went toe to toe in full tilt but this moment came through a 20-year-old Mmahlogo Masemola of Magesi FC. Who scored a header from a throw-in, due to a missed judgement from the NWU goalkeeper in the 31st minute.

The equaliser came soon after the break in the 48th minute, when NWU’s Lindani Nkabinde launched a thunderbolt of note outside the box. Magesi replied ten minutes later to take the lead again, when a headed pass inside the box resulted in a headed goal by their captain Mpho Raseona.

The Noble Boys kept pushing forward in order to find another equaliser, that would send the game to penalties, but it was not meant to be.
