Maart Opens Up On PSL Goal Of The Season Award

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Yusuf Maart has opened up on his 2022/23 PSL Goal of the Season Award.
The Chiefs midfielder, who just completed his debut season for the club after a lucrative switch from Sekhukhune United was honoured on Sunday evening at the annual PSL awards ceremony.
He fended off competition from all the other Goal of the Month winners of the season for his spectacular goal from inside his own half in the Soweto Derby, which was a match-winning strike against his former club, Orlando Pirates.
“For that goal, I really appreciate my teammates, for [it’s] a team sport and I wouldn’t have scored it without them,” Maart told the club’s media department.
“We defended as a team from the front, and Khama told me before the time, to check the keeper he is off his line. Khama won the ball, he made the tackle and the ball came loose [in midfield].
“I took the ball, looked up and thought let me just take the risk and I did it [found the back of the net]. I just want to thank everyone out there for voting for me to win Goal of the Season, for the supporters, the fans, I appreciate you guys, thank you for everything, Amakhosi for life.”
The 27-year-old South Africa international midfielder scored four goals and registered two assists in 31 games across all competitions for the Soweto giants this past season.
