Paris Saint Germain (PSG) superstar Lionel Messi has ruled out the possibility of him venturing into coaching after his playing career.

However, the Argentine is quoted by Barca Universal as having said he was mindful that French legend Zinedie Zidane, too, thought he could not make it in management.

“Becoming a coach? I don’t really intend to be a coach, but Zidane said exactly that and after that, he became a coach and won the Champions League three times,” Messi is quoted saying.

Messi was referring to the Real Madrid legend Zidane who went on to become a success for the Los Blancos as a manager.

The Argentine said this soon after he scored a wonder goal for PSG in the one-all draw with Benfica in the UEFA Champions League match played midweek.

LAST WORLD CUP

Meanwhile, the all-time Barcelona leading scorer Messi has also confirmed that the forthcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar will be his last.

Messi has featured in 2010, 2014 and 2018 editions of the world’s biggest football spectacle.

He came close to winning the World Cup to emulate his idol Diego Maradona, but Argentina lost 1-0 in the final of the 2014 edition to Germany.

The only consolation was that Messi was named player of the tournament and won the Golden Boot at the World Cup final held in Brazil.

The forward goes to the forthcoming World Cup with Argentina enjoying one of their longest unbeaten runs.

REDISCOVERING TOUCH

The PSG star has since rediscovered his scoring touch for club and country having bagged a double in the recent win for Argentina over Jamaica in a friendly.

The 35-year-old managed just four goals across all competitions in his debut season in Paris following his acrimonious exit from Barcelona.

Now, the little magician has scored eight goals in 13 games for all competitions for the French Ligue 1 champions.

Messi has scored five goals in nine Ligue 1 matches, two in three UEFA Champions League appearance and one goal in a domestic cup game.
