Klate not taking struggling Arrows for granted

Chippa United coach Daine Klate is not taking struggling Golden Arrows for granted when the two sides clash in the DStv Premiership on Saturday, 3 September.

Kick-off is at 3pm at Princess Magogo Stadium. Klate is wary that Arrows’ technical team will try to raise their game against them with the hope of turning their fortunes around.

As things stand, Chippa are placed 13th on the table with five points from five outings, while the KwaZulu-Natal side are languishing 15th on the log standings also with five from the very number of games played by their counterparts.

However, the ex-Orlando Pirates midfielder further stated that their concentration levels will not drop when they face Abafana Bes’thende as they used the MTN8 weekend break to build their chemistry and iron up certain issues within the club.

“Look, we had a 10-day break obviously, I think a little bit of rest for the boys but for the most important part of it, I think we had an opportunity to work on few issues we had, especially on the creative side of things and try to create chances and how to convert those chances as it becomes important because I think defensively we are very good with the display from previous matches,” Klate told Chippa’s media officer.

“Golden Arrows is a football team and it has always been a football team and them playing at home on that day they can be very devastating. I have had an experience of playing against them. They can play football if they apply themselves the way they can.

“But I think we are going to make it difficult for them, for example, if you stifle them off the ball and put strings of passes together I think that would the right step in a good direction. We have seen that in the PSL that everybody in the league can beat anyone because form is not really a thing in PSL. So, I think we have to go there with the mentality of getting maximum points.

The Chilli Boys have a fully-fit squad available for Saturday’s encounter and will be looking to take advantage of that heading into the game.

“We have a clean bill of health for the first time. We have no injuries, everybody is available. It is a good headache to have all the players ready for selection,” concluded Klate.
