Kaizer Chiefs veteran goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has shared a sensible message with Daniel Akpeyi after the Nigerian’s exit from Naturena was confirmed.

Akpeyi, 35, is one of nine Kaizer Chiefs players who have been released by the club this week so far.

The Nigerian leaves Naturena after spending 2.5 years with the Glamour Boys, having joined the club from Chippa United in January 2019.

Akpeyi himself posted a heartfelt farewell message on social media, saying an era has come to the end.

“An era has come and gone and a new one will begin, God has being faithful throughout this journey. My love for Kaizer Chiefs knows no bound. Every part makes me strong for the journey ahead,” he wrote.

His teammate from the goalkeeping department wished Akpeyi good luck on this next move and thanked him the time they spent together.

“All the very best in your future endeavours, PAPA Daniel Akpeyi. You’ll remain in my Heart for all you’ve done for me. You remain the Best of the Best. Keep well Brother,” he wrote on social media.

Apart from Akpeyi, Kaizer Chiefs also released Samir Nurkovic, Lazalous Kambole, Lebogang Manyama, Leonardo Castro, Kearyn Baccus, Daniel Cardoso, Dumisani Zuma and Bernard Parker.
