Atletico Madrid and Banyana Banyana star Thembi Kgatlana has described her first season at the Spanish giants as amazing.
Kgatlana signed a two-year deal with Atletico Madrid Femenino in 2021, joining from fellow Spanish top-flight side Eibar.
Speaking to Velile Mnyandu in a lengthy interview in Edition 56 of the iDiski Times newspaper, Kgatlana spoke of how incredible it is to play for the club, and about the intensity and professionalism at the club.
“It has been amazing, like I said,” Kgatlana told iDiski Times.
“I have grown in a lot of aspects, as a person and as a footballer. I wish you could have been here to see our training session, to see the intensity, to see the people coming in and still be able to play football and laugh, and team-mates enjoying doing this as a job.
“We are not playing, this is serious, this is a job.
“My season here at Atleti has been amazing, unfortunately I was troubled by injuries but the team has been helping me to come back, and I’m injury-free right now, getting some game time relay helps me a lot.”
Banyana are currently in camp as they prepare for next month’s CAF African Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco.
