Kaizer Jr Explains Historic Zwane Appointment

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has explained why the club decided to appoint Arthur Zwane as the club’s first head coach to have come through the youth ranks.
The former Amakhosi player signed a three-year contract at Naturena and will guide the new sporting project at the club, while Dillon Sheppard was confirmed as his assistant.
Motaung explained the historic appointment of one the club’s own, as a new dawn for the Glamour Boys because Zwane understands the club, having come from within and also knows what playing philosophy they want to follow.
“Firstly, if I can, I just want to say a big congratulations to Manghete, Arthur Zwane,” he said during Zwane’s unveiling press conference.
“I think personally, having also an experience alongside you as a player, it’s an honor to sit next to you and to welcome you on board as the Kaizer Chiefs head coach for this next three-year project that will be embarking on.
“I think it’s a massive honor for me to be able to sit next to this gentleman, I think a big decision and a hard decision that made us take this direction.
“We needed an individual who really really understands the KC philosophy and how to implement that in a practical manner. And I think we are not lost in the fact that we need to succeed.
“And we have had to re-evaluate what does success mean for us. In order to get the right level of success on a long term basis, it’s very, very important that the foundation that you lay, is found to be impeccable.
“And I think having gone through every single stage, one as a player in the youth academy, and also having furthered himself with the coaching values and experiences that coach Arthur has, I think he’s a made him an ideal candidate to take this project into the future.
“We understand the challenges that the club faces, we have our immediate need of having silverware in the cabinet, but we’ve seen with our challenges in the last couple of years and in order to get that there’s certain things and steps you cannot bypass.
“And I think Arthur has proven himself to be able to develop patterns of play, to develop patterns of play that links to an identity.
“And I think if you had asked any of our staff, if you’d ask any of our supporters, they want to win, but they want to win in the Kaizer Chiefs way and in the Kaizer Chiefs manner.
“Personally, I look forward to learning as much as I can from from the coach. The journey hasn’t begun now. It has begun many years now.
“And I just want to congratulate Coach, Arthur and I think also, again, it must be said that this confidence definitely comes from the board and the chairman. As always, the decision was taken on the highest level possible.
“He has to know that he has the full support of the Amakhosi family and we will make sure that from our side we just provide the most conducive environment to be the best out of our young, dynamic, future driven coach of the future.
“And again, thank you for putting your hand up. Thank you for answering that call. We’re together and I wish you nothing but the best part brother.”
