A KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) taxi driver would not have competition contesting for the ‘Most Heartless South African of the Year’ following the alleged act of dumping a woman in labour earlier today, Friday, 28 April.

WOMAN GIVES BIRTH ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD

According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the 25-year-old woman in labour was dumped on the roadside by a taxi driver who refused to transport her to the hospital.

“A passer-by arrived at Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Headquarters at 16:28 requesting assistance for the female who was in the process of delivering her child on a grass verge approximately 50 metres away,” RUSA detailed.

According to the female, the taxi driver informed the woman that he was not willing to assist her as it would delay him dropping off his load of passengers.

“Female RUSA Administrators proceeded to the woman’s location and assisted in the delivery of the male child.”
