Richards Bay returned to the summit of the GladAfrica Championship with a good win on Saturday, as AmaTuks were held to a draw in Cape Town.

Pitso Dladla’s team hammered Platinum City Rovers 5-1 on Saturday, with Sakhile Hlongwa scoring a hat-trick for the KZN team.

They move ahead of AmaTuks on goal difference after the Tshwane team could only manage a 1-1 draw against Cape Town All Stars, who are also in the battle for promotion.

JDR Stars also missed an opportunity to close the gap on the leaders, as they played to a goalless draw against Free State Stars.

Meanwhile Black Leopards continued their good run of form as they beat Tshakhuma 2-1 to climb above their Limpopo rivals into 13th spot.

On Friday there was a 1-1 draw at Athlone Stadium between Cape Town Spurs and Polokwane City.

On Sunday it was the teams at the bottom of the table who showed they weren’t going down without a fight, but despite leading twice against Venda Football Academy, Jomo Cosmos dropped to bottom place, as they lost 3-2. VFA on the other hand moved into third spot, climbing above All Stars and JDR.

TS Sporting, who were bottom, move to 15th after they beat Hungry Lions 2-1, while Pretoria Callies moved up two places to 12th spot after their 1-0 win over Uthongathi.
