Richards Bay remain top of the GladAfrica Championship after picking up an important victory over the weekend.

Pitso Dladla’s team beat Alan Freese’s fifth-placed Cape Town All Stars 2-0 on Saturday, and moved onto 43 points after 24 games.

The GladAfrica action actually began on Friday, where Cape Town Spurs beat Pretoria Callies 1-0 at the Athlone Stadium. The victory pulls Shaun Bartlett’s 11th-placed team further away from the relegation zone, as they moved onto 28 points.

13th-placed Callies meanwhile need to pick up results under new coach Kwanele Kopo in their remaining six games. They are currently on 25 points, and are still in danger of being pulled into the relegation battle.

Tshakhumas’s 2-1 victory over Free State Stars on Friday saw them go into 12th position, on 27 points.

There were two draws on Saturday as Venda Football Academy and Platinum City Rovers drew 0-0, while Polokwane City and JDR Stars ended 1-1.

JDR are now four points behind the leaders, while VFA are a further point behind.

AmaTuks however are only ONE point behind the leaders, after they came from behind to beat TS Sporting 2-1 on Sunday.

Sporting have dropped to the bottom spot on the log after Black Leopards beat Jomo Cosmos 2-0 on Sunday, which also sees Cosmos drop back into the relegation zone and Lidoda Duvha jumping off the bottom to 14th.

Meanwhile Uthongathi moved into the top eight as they beat Hungry Lions 2-1 at the Princess Magogo Stadium, also on Sunday afternoon.
