Gabuza Set For Next PSL Move After SuperSport

SuperSport United and Thamsanqa Gabuza have parted ways after four seasons at the DStv Premiership side.

The veteran striker who was on the brink of a January move to Stellenbosch before the deal fell through was one of the mainstay members of Matstsansa over his first three seasons after his arrival from Orlando Pirates.

However, the return of Gavin Hunt saw his key role diminish somewhat as a regular starter due to the tactical system switch, added to the impressive form of Bradley Grobler, who penned a new deal with the club.

Prosport International recently announced him as a new client despite his advancing age of 35 but founder Mike Makaab says it wasn’t a case of snapping him up.

“It wasn’t about snapping him up, Gabuza was always a ProSport client, and then when he went to Orlando Pirates, we were involved in the deal, he went to Orlando Pirates and then he felt he didn’t need representation and I love him for that,” Makaab told iDiski Times.

“He’s a man of his belief, a wonderful character and the reason why we welcomed him back is because he is part of our family and we love him.”

When quizzed about whether Gabuza is now a free agent, Makaab confirmed to this website and stated they are working to find him a new club ahead of the 2023/24 season.

“No [he is not staying at SuperSport], we’re looking for opportunities for him at the moment and again hopefully, sooner or later we’ll find a home for him, he’s the sort of player that can really add value to any football club.”

However, any potential revival of talks with Stellies have been ruled out for the player, who netted 22 goals and registered seven assists in 118 games for the Tshwane-based outfit.
