French Ligue 1 champions have shown interest in signing the South African midfielder

Former KZN academy star Sphephelo Sithole might soon participate in one of the biggest competitions in the world after the French Ligue 1 giants have approached him.

According to various reports, the French Ligue 1 champions Lille, have shown interest in signing the South African midfielder.


Sphephelo Sithole is currently playing for the Portuguese side Belenenses SAD. He has been one of the most exciting players to watch this season.

He was then able to attract the interest of not less than three clubs in Europe, which includes also Lebo Mothiba’s side RC Strasbourg and FC Lorient.


Lille, who were recently crowned French Ligue 1 champions are also knee on signing the midfielder in order to strengthen their squad as they will participate in the UEFA Champions League competition next season.

Should the player seal the deal, he will join the likes of Lebo Mothiba and Bongani Zungu who are also playing in France.
