France and Morocco have named their starting line-ups for this evening’s FIFA World Cup semi-final.
The last four match between the defending champions and Africa’s first-ever semi-finalists is set to be a historical encounter. Morocco and France have long had historical connections, and there are around 800,000 people living in France of Moroccan descent.
Many of the current Moroccan players fall into that category, as well as their coach, Walid Regragui.
But while they have a rich history, there have not been too many encounters on the football pitch, and tonight will be their first meeting at a major competition.
Their last meeting was an international friendly 15 years ago that ended 2-2. In total, they have met seven times (mostly in the Mediterranean Games and King Hassan II Cups), with France prevailing five times, while Morocco won twice.
Here is how they line up:
France XI: Lloris, Koundé, Varane, Konaté, Hernandez, Fofana, Tchouaméni, Griezmann, Dembélé, Giroud, Mbappé
