Former SA U23 Player Spotted At Sekhukhune

Former Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper Darren Johnson has been spotted training with DStv Premiership side Sekhukhune United.

The 26-year-old spent most of his career in the Mother City, having been developed by Urban Warriors before getting a senior contract in the 2016/17 season.

The former national team U23 shot-stopper was released by Ajax Cape Town after the club changed the name to Cape Town Spurs and Motsepe Foundation Championship side University of Pretoria wasted no time in getting the signature of the Capetonian.

Things didn’t seem to have worked out for him in the capital city, with Kyle Peters being the first the choice of the side.

This publication has now learned that Johnson is training with Sekhukhune United, where he finds another Capetonian in coach Brandon Truter.

At this moment no deal has been discussed yet but a close source confirmed that a decision will be taken in the next three to four weeks.
