The Premier Soccer League (PSL) have announced the passing of its former Prosecutor Nande Becker.
Becker stepped down from his role in November last year and was replaced by Zola Majavu.
In a short statement on Thursday, the PSL confirmed Becker’s succumbed to a long illness.
PSL STATEMENT ON NANDE BECKER
“The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has just learned of the passing of Mr Nande Becker former PSL Prosecutor, who succumbed to a long illness,” said the league.
“We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the Becker family for the loss of the patriarch of the family. May his soul repose peacefully.”
The South African Football Association (SAFA) and some PSL clubs have started paying their tributes to Becker.
“The South African Football Association (SAFA) has learnt with great sadness of the passing away of former Premier Soccer League (PSL) prosecutor Mr Nande Becker.
Mr Becker passed away after a long illness.
The Association would like to send healing prayers and comfort to his family, friends and relatives.
SAFA would like to wish the Becker family comfort at this time of sorrow,” said SAFA in a statement on Thursday.
“We are saddened to hear about the passing of Mr Nande Becker.
Our deepest condolences to the Becker family. May his soul rest in peace,” read a message of condolences from SuperSport United.
Becker served as PSL prosecutor since January 2013 before quitting I’m late 2021. He spent eight seasons working at the Premier Soccer League. He had four decades of experience as an attorney.
