Downs Ladies Continue Super League Dominance

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies picked up where they left off before the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) recess, as they defeated University of Johannesburg (UJ) 3-1 in the return fixture of the Hollywoodbets Super League on Sunday.

Andisiwe Mgcoyi scored her 10th goal of the season and Melinda Kgadiete netted a brace, to help Sundowns stay top of the log with 30 points and two games in hand, while Anna Monate’s charges are in eighth position on the log with 20 points from 13 matches.

MaIndies Ladies shocked University of Western Cape (UWC) with a 1-0 win in Giyani, a result that saw the Limpopo side break into the top three with 26 points from 13 encounters. UWC are behind them in fourth spot with 23 points from 11 outings.

JVW Girls moved up to fifth place on the standings with 23 points as they defeated rookies Vasco Da Gama 3-2 in their 11th outing. Vasco are third from bottom with six points from the same number of games.
