Dondol Stars co-coach Khuliso Rashamuse reckons that he won’t be over-confident ahead of the Nedbank Cup Last 32 clash against SuperSport United on Wednesday.
Rashamuse says they will give Matsatsantsa the respect they deserve as they are two divisions ahead of them.
The Gauteng ABC Motsepe League side will take a short trip to Lucas Moripe Stadium to face SuperSport on Wednesday, 8 February 2023.
The kick-off for the match is scheduled for 19:30.
Rashamuse revealed that his side will not be overconfident coming into this encounter because SuperSport is a big brand coached by a highly experienced coach, Gavin Hunt.
The third-tier mentor was talking in reference to the fact that Hunt guided Matsatsantsa to a historic three consecutive league titles and a Nedbank Cup triumph in his previous spell with the Tshwane-based outfit.
KHULISO RASHAMUSE NOT OVERCONFIDENT
“We don’t want to come here to say highly impossible things. We rather stay focused,” Rashamuse told the media during the Nedbank Cup press conference.
“However, in football, anything can happen. SuperSport United is a big brand and we as Dondol Stars respect the team.
“We are motivated but not overconfident.”
KHULISO RASHAMUSE ANTICIPATING A TOUGH GAME
The co-coach went on to reveal that the game is going to be a difficult one, as cup games are a different ball game.
“It’s going to be a different ball game especially playing against a team of SuperSport United’s calibre and is not going to be an easy game,” He added.
“The fact that SuperSport is a big team, obviously we had many chances to watch them play not necessarily for the Nedbank Cup clash.”
He further stated that his side is a team that prefers playing local football and we can expect some carpet football, and also enjoys keeping position.
Rashamuse says the mood in the camp is high spirits as they have won their league game against Tembisa Sports Centre with a 1-0 scoreline over the weekend.
“The mood in the camp is awesome the boys have been training hard and they’re looking sharp,” revealed the co-coach.
“Let me not shy away from the fact that we as a young technical team are excited about the fixture.”
As things stand, Dondol are cruising nicely in Gauteng ABC League as they sit top of the table with 48 points, four points ahead of second-placed Jomo Cosmos.
