Dolly suggests Chiefs should emulate Mosimane’s strategy

Keagan Dolly suggests that Kaizer Chiefs should emulate Pitso Mosimane’s Mamelodi Sundowns strategy as he outlines how they can restore the glory days at Naturena.
Dolly played under Mosimane at Sundowns and won the CAF Champions League with the maverick coach.
He was at Sundowns between June 2014 and January 2017 when he left for France to join Montpellier.
PITSO MOSIMANE’S SUNDOWNS STRATEGY
In fact, he won his only domestic league title with Sundowns in the 2015/16 season, which was Mosimane’s second.
The Saudi Arabia-based coach had joined the club in December 2012 after a five-year league title drought.
Therefore, Dolly understands what it took to rebuild Sundowns into a dominant force on the local scene.
This season, they are set to win their sixth successive title, three years after Mosimane left for Al Ahly of Egypt.
“It’s been a build-up. There was a phase where Sundowns were also struggling,” Dolly said on Thursday.

He believes the first thing Mosimane did right was recruit the right kind of players for his project.
“They made a lot of signings, and some of them didn’t even get to play for that club.
“But I think it’s been a build-up where Coach Pitso came and signed the right kind of players,” said the 30-year-old. “It started from there, and they started winning trophies.”
THEY BUILT A CULTURE
The second thing Ajax Cape Town’s product points out is building a culture and style of play.
Under Mosimane, Sundowns went back to playing ‘Shoe-Shine Football’, dominating their opponents. The style of play, till today, is as clear as daylight, and any player coming in knows what’s expected of them.
He further said that is the direction the club wants to take. “I think they built a culture for themselves where any player they sign now can fit into the team and knows exactly what he must do.
“I think that’s the direction we wanna go; there are a few new players that came into the team.”
Chiefs have already started signing new players ahead of next season. Cape Town City’s midfield maestro Mduduzi Mdantsane has already joined them, alongside TS Galaxy captain Given Msimango, although the club is yet to announce.
In January, though, they announced that Thatayaone Ditlhokwe had signed a pre-contract. He will join them from SuperSport at the end of the season.
