Dolly Addresses Billiat Exit Talk

Kaizer Chiefs winger Keagan Dolly says Khama Billiat knows he can achieve something with the club amid speculation he will be released at the end of the current season.

Billiat joined Chiefs back in 2018, and at the time, was regarded as one of the most explosive talents in Africa due to his exploits with Mamelodi Sundowns and Zimbabwe.

In his five seasons at Masandawana, part of which is starred alongside Dolly, he won three league titles, the Nedbank Cup, Telkom Knockout, CAF Champions League, and Super Cup while netting directly contributing 90 goals (47 goals and 43 assists) in 140 matches.

But his time at Chiefs has been trophyless, and injury-ravaged, as this season, he’s yet to score in the 11 matches played – ahead of his contract set to expire.

“Look, nobody knows if he [Khama] is going to be here or if he’s not, uhm, Khama is just trying to get back to his fitness level,” Dolly said.

As one of the highest-paid players at the club, there have been suggestions he may be allowed to leave to focus on emerging talent and increasing the wage budget for potential new signings, but Dolly feels it may not be the last we’ve seen of Billiat just yet.

“He is working hard at training, he started jogging and I think for each and any player, not knowing what the future holds is a bit stressful,” he continued.

“But for him, he’s been in the game long, I think he knows what he can achieve still at the club, I think he’s working hard to get back to play the last few games then we’ll see what’s going to happen next.”

The 2016 PSL Footballer of the Season has featured 125 times for the Soweto giants, scoring 24 goals with 29 assists to his name.
