Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Pavol Safranko has signed for a new club after parting company with the reigning DStv Premiership champions on Thursday.
Safranko has moved swiftly to find a new home after spending only one season at Chloorkop since joining the club at the beginning of 2021/22 campaign.
The Slovakian forward has reunited with Romania outfit Sepsi OSK, the club he played for before joining Sundowns.
In only one year with Masandawana, the lanky striker made 29 appearances in all competitions scoring nine goals.
Amongst his goals is a strike against Royal AM that booked Patrick Motsepe-owned club a spot in the 2022 Nedbank Cup final, which they subsequently won against Marumo Gallants 2-1 at Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
The 28-year old was announced on the club’s social media site few hours after parting ways with Sundowns with a video captioned, ‘Pavol is back’.
With Bafana Ba Style welcoming Ethiopian international Nasir Abubeker and Marcelo Allende from Chile, the future of the towering goal poacher was going to be difficult.
Peter Shalulile and Thabiso Kutumela have so far been the preferred duo to lead the striking force.
Safranko, who was mainly used as a second-half substitute, was deemed surplus to requirements due to five foreign spots in the team.
Sundowns already have Allende, Abubeker, Erwin Saavedra, Gaston Sirino and Abdelmounaim Boutouil who is yet to be officially announced by the club.
Abubeker, who is nursing an injury, scored on his home debut, while Allende also got himself on the scoresheet this week when Sundowns beat Stellenbosch 3-0.
Another striker Kermit Erasmus looks set to leave the club with indications he has requested to be released due to lack of game time.
Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi has vowed that this season they have a stronger team, following the additions they have made.
