Barcelona have confirmed the contract extension of winger, Ousmane Dembélé.
The new deal will see the Frenchman stay at the club until 30 June 2024.
His previous contract with the Catalan giants expired at the end of last month.
While reports indicated that Chelsea and Manchester United were looking into a move for Dembele, Barcelona were also in the running to re-sign their star.
Dembélé joined Barça back in August 2017 from Borussia Dortmund when he was just 20 years old.
The club manager Xavi wanted Dembélé to stay and it’s now finally completed.
He made his debut for the Spanish giants on September 9 against Espanyol, where he went on to contribute an assist to a 5-0 win.
Given his highly promising start, he never quite managed to get into his full stride due to an unfortunate string of different injuries.
The 25-year-old footballer has played 150 games in his five years at Barcelona.
He has earned a fabulous reputation as an assist provider, and in the 2021/22 season, he topped not just Barça but also La Liga by setting up 13 goals.
All in all, he has weighed in with 34 assists, while also scoring 32 goals of his own to help the team to two league and two cup titles.
“FC Barcelona and the player Ousmane Dembélé have reached an agreement for a contract until 30 June 2024. Thursday 14 July sees the following agenda: 1:15pm CEST: Private contract signing at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. 1:45pm: Public signing at the Tito Vilanova pitch. The event can be followed live on Barça TV+ all around the world and also on FC Barcelona’s official digital channels,” reads the statement.
