‘Days Of Vision 2022 Are Over’

Cavin Johnson says whether Bafana Bafana field Themba Zwane or not is irrelevant but they need to start winning after the Vision 2022 failure.

The former SuperSport United head coach was speaking the launch of Junior Khanye’s ‘Ghetto Ninja’ book this week and he opened up on the current Bafana shortcomings.

Vision 2022 was launched by the South African Football Association as a detailed plan to develop football towards bridging the gap with the elite on the continent and the world after years of decline.

Johnson admits the SAFA plan has failed and stated there’s no time for another rebuild by suggesting the national team should field the best players available to achieve results.

“I was privileged to sit in a conference talking about vision 2022,” Johnson said when asked about the new-look Bafana set-up.

“SAFA has always spoken about 2022, 10 or 15 years ago they started talking about vision 2022 and we are nowhere near achieving what they set out to achieve.

“What I believe now is that every time we play as Bafana Bafana at international level, we have to win the game. Win the game whether you pick Themba Zwane or not.

“No matter who you are playing against. Our days of building for 2022 are over.
