Davids Speaks After Pirates Exit

Former Orlando Pirates coach Fadlu Davids has spoken for the first time since the Buccaneers confirmed his exit.
The Sea Robbers announced Davids’ exit on Friday, stating they will not extend his contract when it runs out by the end of June.
As a consequence, Davids will leave the Buccaneers, while Mandla Ncikazi seemingly stays on.
The 41-year-old now took to social media to send a parting message to the Buccaneers fans.
“Over the last few years, I have been fortunate enough to be part of the Orlando Pirates FC. Through all the highs and lows it was always an honour to represent the badge,” Davids wrote.
“I would like to thank the Chairman, Management, Colleagues and more importantly the “Ghost” for the opportunity and wish the club everything of the best moving forward. It was indeed a privilege. Once Always, Onto the next one…”
Davids joined the club in 2019 as an assistant coach under Rulani Mokwena and later had the same role under Joseph Zinnbauer when the technical team guided Bucs to their first trophy in six years.
In 2021/22, Davids and Ncikazi were leading the club as co-coaches and reached the CAF Confederation Cup final, but an unlucky defeat on penalties and also Pirates’ failure to qualify for a CAF Competition again, seemingly motivated the club’s leadership to ring the changes.
