Goalkeeper Bongani Mpandle has returned to Cape Town City on a two-year contract after the departure of Hugo Marques.

The 30-year-old had initially left City in June after only one season in the Mother City since joining from Maritzburg United.

However, after the shocking news of Hugo Marques’ departure to join Petro de Luanda in Angola, the Citizens were left with just one first-team goalkeeper in Darren Keet.

The former Bafana Bafana shot stopper started the the midweek game against Maritzburg United, keeping City’s first clean sheet of the season.

Meanwhile, young DStv Diski Challenge goalkeeper Dian Oliaro Luca was sitting on the bench, with Mpandle in the stands.

But iDiskiTimes has learnt that the former Maritzburg United goalkeeper has now returned to City and signed a new two-year deal with last season’s runners-up.

Mpandle is yet to make an appearance for the Citizens, but has featured 32 for Maritzburg United.
