City Up To Fourth – iDiski Times

Cape Town City moved up to fourth in the DStv Premiership, as they beat Baroka 5-1 at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday evening. Both teams ended the game with ten men.
It was an important win for Eric Tinkler’s men, their third in succession, and sees them move above Orlando Pirates, who did not play league football this weekend, due to their CAF Confederation Cup match against Al Ittihad.
Cape Town City 5-1 Baroka
Khanyisa Mayo had a chance in the opening minute of the game, but Oscarine Masuluke made a good save.
However a minute later at the other end, Baroka were awarded a penalty after Brice Ambina fouled Sekela Sithole in the box. Sithole stepped up to take the kick however Darren Keet in his first start for City saved the spot-kick, before Nathan Fasika cleared the follow up off the line.
Masuluke was back in action in the 12th minute, saving from a Fasika header, and the goalkeeper saved from the same player just after the half-hour mark, and again in the 34th minute, this time from Mdu Mdantsane.
Baroka grabbed the lead in the 35th minute, as the visitors pounced on a loose pass, and Dan Ndhlovu was at the end of the move, and his shot beat Keet to make it 1-0.
Mayo and Mdantsane both shot wide with chances in the next five minutes, as City looked to get the equaliser. Baroka were dealt a blow when they were reduced to ten men just before half-time as Train Mokhabi picked up a second yellow card in the half.
At the break though Baroka led 1-0 despite being a man down.
City started the half where they left off and Mdantsane and Darwin Gonzalez went close with early chances.
And City were level in the 50th minute, Mayo finishing off at close range from a good cross from Thamsanqa Mkhize.
City were awarded a penalty in the 54th minute after Mayo was brought down in the box. Mdantsane stepped up to the spot and converted to make it 2-1.
It was 3-1 in the 59th minute, Mdantsane on the scoresheet again, as he raced into the box and headed in past Masuluke.
Unfortunately for Mdantsane his next action was to get a second yellow, as City were reduced to ten men in the 63rd minute.
Craig Martin went wide in the 72nd minute, while a minute later at the other end Evidence Makgopa went over.
Martin got himself a goal in the 88th minute, heading in Terrence Mashego’s cross to make it 4-1.
It got worse for Baroka as City were awarded a stoppage time penalty after Masuluke fouled Tashreeq Morris. Morris stepped up to the spot and finished with aplomb to make it 5-1.
A third successive victory for City, but another disappointing result for Baroka, who remain in the last spot on the log.
