City Power hopes to fully restore Roodepoort electricity by Monday

City Power says it hopes to have electricity supply to Roodepoort, west of Johannesburg, fully restored on Monday.

Several areas have been without power after a fire broke out at the Robertsville substation on Saturday morning.

City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said, “the fires… I can’t tell what caused them, the issues of transformers, there could be accidents, there could be a level of sabotage, but they do happen.”

“Those are some of the things we going to look out for we don’t rule out the issues of maintenance, we are running behind because of load shedding..we are investigating the cause of this one.”
