Chiefs Victorious in Gqeberha – iDiski Times

Kaizer Chiefs got back to winning ways in the DStv Premiership as they ran out 3-1 victors against Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

The result sees Chiefs remain third, after Royal AM also won on the day. Chiefs are on 38 points, while second-placed Royal AM are on 40. Both teams remain some distance behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who are on 51 points.

Chippa United 1-3 Kaizer Chiefs

Bienvenu Eva Nga went close for the home team in the tenth minute, but was denied by the upright.

Samir Nurkovic had a great chance in the 16th minute, as he ran onto a good ball from Khama Billiat, but the Serbian’s shot went wide of goal. 

Two minutes later Nurkovic was on target, but this time Lloydt Kazapua made a good save.  From the resulting corner Siyabonga Ngezana header over.

And Chiefs were in front in the 23rd minute, Nurkovic scoring his first league goal of the season, as he poked in Billiat’s cross, to make it 1-0.

Nurkovic had the ball in the back of the net in the 33rd minute, but the referee had already blown his whistle for a foul on Kapazua, although replays suggest it was committed by his own player.

Chippa had a few late chances in the first half, but Roscoe Pietersen’s effort was saved by Brandon Petersen, Siphele Luthuli shot over, while Azola Matrose shot across the face of goal, and at half-time, it remained 1-0.

It took less than a minute in the second half for the home team to draw level. Eva Nga beating the off-side trap and racing clear, before placing it past Petersen to make it 1-1.

Billiat and Nurkovic combined again but this time the striker’s effort in the 50th minute lacked power and Kazapua was able to save comfortably.

Siphesihle Mkhize was off target for Chippa in the 53rd minute, while Ramahlwe Mphahlele’s effort at the other end a minute later was saved by Kapazua.

Chiefs were back in the lead in the 75th minute. Keagan Dolly came off the bench and with his first attempt at goal, he curled an effort from a free kick into the top left corner.

Cole Alexander, who also came off the bench, wrapped up the result in the 88th minute, as he did well to finish off Njabulo Blom’s cross, to make it 3-1 on the night.

Maritzburg United POSTPONED Swallows

The match between Maritzburg United and Swallows scheduled for Saturday evening was postponed before it could kick off at the Harry Gwala Stadium, due to a waterlogged pitch and the bad weather in KZN.

Golden Arrows 3-2 SuperSport United

Golden Arrows came from a goal down to beat a nine-man SuperSport United 3-2 in their DStv Premiership at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday evening.

SuperSport took the lead in the 12th minute after Jamie Webber converted from the penalty spot, after Iqraam Rayners went down in the area

Arrows were awarded a penalty of their own in the 19th minute after Pule Mmodi was fouled in the box. Nduduzo Sibiya stepped up and made no mistake to make it 1-1.

SuperSport were back in front in the 25th minute when 20-year-old Selaelo Rasebotja did well to score.

The visitors were dealt a blow ten minutes into the second half after Thamsanqa Gabuza was shown a red card for a studs-up tackle.

It got worse for SuperSport in the 63rd minute when Iqraam Rayners was sent off by Akhona Makalima for stamping on Siyavuva Ndlovu.

Arrows were level in the 77th minute, with Knox Mutizwa on hand to tap in at close range, his sixth goal of the season.

A minute later they were in the lead, Velemseni Ndwandwe heading in from Sibiya’s cross.

Three points for Lehlohonolo Seema and his team, who leapfrog SuperSport into seventh position.

TS Galaxy 1-4 Royal AM

Second-placed Royal AM became the second team in the league to reach forty points as they beat TS Galaxy 3-1 at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Victor Letsoalo headed Royal AM in front in the 25th minute, before adding a second goal to his tally on the half hour mark.

Just before half-time, Galaxy reduced the deficit when Augustine Kwem converted from the penality spot, after he had been fouled in the box.

Ndumiso Mabena made it 3-1 in the 63rd minute, scoring with a set-piece.

Royal AM added the fourth in stoppage time, substitute Mfundo Thikazi making it 4-1 for John Maduka’s team.

Stellenbosch 1-1 Sekhukhune United

Stellenbosch and Sekhukhune United couldn’t be separated as they drew 1-1 at the Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Justin Shonga gave the visitors the lead, opening the scoring for Sekhukhune in the 13th minute with a great bicycle kick from just inside the box.

Stellies drew level in the second, with Venezuelan Juan Ortiz getting himself on the scoresheet in the 61st minute, scoring from a tight angle.
