Chiefs Face New PSL Charges

Kaizer Chiefs are facing new charges by the Premier Soccer League over their December fixture against Sekhukhune United.

Amakhosi are currently still fighting the PSL over their two fixtures against Cape Town City and Golden Arrows, which they couldn’t honour due to a serious Covid-19 outbreak at the club.

The PSL dismissed an application by Chiefs to have the two games postponed, a decision which the club had taken to arbitration and won.

However, the PSL are now taken that case to the High Court, with papers being served to both parties.

The Glamour Boys, though, are now facing new charges by the PSL for facing two ineligible player in their fixture against Sekhukhune United.

“I hearby confirm that Kaizer Chiefs Football Club has been charged for fielding two defaulters, namely Mr Aden Tristan McCarthy and Mduduzi Shabalala, in the match between themselves and Sekhukhune FC, on 12 December 2021,” the PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu confirmed.

“These players were not properly registered for purposes of the DSTV Premiership, but were registered for purposes of the reserve league. 

“That is the basis of the allegations which they are facing. The matter has been enrolled for hearing on the 14th of April, 2022 at 14h00.

“Once the matter is finalised, I will confirm the outcome of the DC.”

Both players were on the bench in Amakhosi’s 2-0 win over Sekhukhune but neither did take to the field.
