Broos sets sights on Afcon qualifiers after France drubbing | African News

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos says they will build on the ‘positives’ from the 5-0 drubbing against France and focus on the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Bafana were thumped by the world champions on Tuesday evening in Lille in front of 50 000 supporters that thronged the Stade Pierre Mauron.
Broos said it was important to play Les Bleus and “learn from them”.
“We knew coming into this game what we were coming up against. There was a difference in level between the two teams, but it wasn’t about the result; it was about the experience we have gained here today.
“We are a young team. Therefore we don’t have the experience and quality of the French team. We tried our best today, but our opposition’s talent was too much, so we are not embarrassed by this scoreline,” he told the media.
He believes Tuesday’s experience will come in handy for his charges in June.
“It was important for the qualifiers in June,” he added.
“I see that there is more quality for our team now than six or seven months ago; we are ready for June.”
Golden Arrows defender Nkosinathi Sibisi started in defence, and Broos hinted he was impressed. He said the introduction of new players would widen his selection pool for future matches.
