Kamohelo Mokotjo is set to rejoin his boyhood club SuperSport United on a free transfer.

The 31-year-old midfielder has been unattached since leaving Major League Soccer (MLS) side FC Cincinnati in December 2021 and has been training with his former club FC Twente in the Dutch Eredivisie.

However, the Netherlands side has not made any commitment regarding signing him. FARPost has been reliably informed that negotiations are at an advanced stage, with the player set to link up with the team in the next few days.

“When they heard he was available, they moved quickly, and he will be joining them any minute from now. SuperSport is home for him,” a source close to the player said.

The former Bafana Bafana star cut ties with Cincinnati after a mutual agreement to end their relationship before the start of the 2022 MLS season.

Two months later, the Free State-born star resurfaced at Twente after the club allowed him to undergo his recovery programme under their supervision following a meniscal injury he sustained late last season.

Mokotjo is highly respected at the Eredivisie side after making 100 appearances in his three seasons with them.

Matsatsantsa coach will be happy to add another experienced player to his youthful squad. The former South Africa international also had a stint in England, where he played for FC Brentford in 2017.
