Brazil has settled on two African opponents for their FIFA World Cup Qatar Cup September friendlies, while AFCON champions Senegal has secured two non-European buildup matches coming up in September.
The record five-time World champions will date fellow Qatar finalists Tunisia and Ghana in Europe next month.
Next month’s friendlies are also the first confirmed September appointments for both Ghana and Tunisia.
Brazil will kick off their African safari in Europe against Ghana on September 23.
They will follow this up with a date against Tunisia on September 27 in what will be the two sides first meeting since 1973.
Venues of the two friendlies will be announced later by Brazil’s football governing body CBF.
The South American country – Brazil – will use those dates to prepare for their final Group G fixture against Cameroon on December 2.
Cameroon, on the other hand, has yet to confirm their September friendly itinerary.
But AFCON champions Senegal are set to face Iran and Bolivia. Senegal will play Iran on September 27 in Austria but the date and venue of the Bolivia friendly have yet to be confirmed.
Africa’s fifth Qatar World Cup representative Morocco has not yet officially confirmed its September programme.
However, the Atlas Lions’ Group F opponents Belgium are reportedly finalizing a date friendly against AFCON runners-up Egypt as part of their Qatar friendly schedule.
Meanwhile, the South Africa women’s national team will play their Brazil counterparts next month in Durban as they prepare for the 2023 Women’s FIFA World Cup.
Banyana Banyana recently won the Women’s African Cup of Nations, also booking a place at next year’s World Cup which will be co-hosted by New Zealand and Australia.
Coach Desiree Ellis, three-time African coach of the year, will use the match to gauge their readiness for the global soccer showpiece.
