Amid question marks whether Benni McCarthy could join one of the Soweto giants, his representative Rob Moore has given insight into what his next club must offer.

AmaZulu parted ways with McCarthy last week, and have since brought in Brandon Truter as interim coach.

Moore, speaking to Thomas Mlambo on the Ultimate Sports Show, says that McCarthy, who led AmaZulu to a historic second place in the DStv Premiership last season, will go spend time with his family and take stock.

The former Bafana Bafana striker also led Usuthu to the group stages of the CAF Champions League in their debut season in continental football, and Moore says that if McCarthy takes another job in South Africa they must match his ambitions.

“What’s next is take stock, go home, be with his family, take stock,” Moore said on the Ultimate Sports Show when asked about McCarthy’s next move.

“But bottom line is this, if he takes another job in South Africa, it can only be with a club who has realistic ambitions, that will match what they’re prepared to invest.

“Not that you have to be a cheque-book manager, not at all. If you’ve got a youth system that’s producing good young player after good young player, then you find that balance.

“You have your home-growns, you have your existing players, and you plug in a few pieces by buying X-limited number of players.

“But if you don’t have a youth system that’s kicking out really, really good, high class talent, well then you could have a cheque-book.

“And so if he’s joins, he will only go with somebody who he feels that A, has ambitions, B, they’ve got the resources to be able to match that, and C, that they have a realistic chance at fighting for titles.

“Because he’s a winner. He wants to fight for titles.”
