Banyana Announce Squad To Face Netherlands

Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis has announced her squad to play Netherlands in an international friendly away on 12 April.

The two nations were due to meet in June last year but due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases the match was cancelled. Banyana will assemble for camp on 5 April and leave three days later. 

This friendly is part of the team’s preparations for the 2022 African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Morocco.

A notable inclusion is that of Sporting Braga striker Jermaine Seoposenwe, who is back in the Banyana fold following a long absence due to Visa problems in Portugal. Koketso Tlailane and Hollywoodbets Super League Young Player of the Season Nthabiseng Majiya were also included.

Captain Refiloe Jane, though, was a notable absentee with the coach saying it is due to an injury she picked at her club AC Milan.

Goalkeepers: Andile Dlamini, Kaylin Swart

Defenders: Lebogang Ramalepe, Karabo Dlamani, Koketso Tlailane, Janine Van Wyk, Tiisetso Makhubela, Bambanani Mbane, Noko Matlou

Midfielders: Mamello Makhabane, Nomvula Kgoale, Linda Motlhalo, Gabriela Salgado, Noxolo Cesane, Thalea Smidt, Kholosa Biyana, Robyn Moodaly, Sibulele Holweni
