Arrows Won’t Stand In Mmodi’s Way

Golden Arrows co-coach Vusi Vilakazi has made it very clear that they will not stand in the way of want-away winger Pule Mmodi.

Mmodi, 29, has again hogged headlines in recent weeks, with talks that he has signed with Kaizer Chiefs on a pre-contract, as the Soweto giants have been interested in him.

Also, his agent recently told iDiski Times that Arrows’ city rivals AmaZulu have also expressed an interest in the winger, who is out of contract by the end of the season.

With the January transfer window now officially open, Mmodi is legally eligible to sign a pre-contract with a club of his choice since he is left with six months in his contract.

This leaves Arrows in the vulnerable space to cash in on him now or go all out and give him an offer that he won’t refuse, or allow him to leave for free at the end of the season.

“I think I did speak before about the issue of Mmodi and I will talk again today,” said Vilakazi after he witnessed his side lose 2-0 to Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

“Pule can leave the club at any time if Pule has an offer because the aim is not to keep Pule. Maybe I need to make that clear, if there’s an opportunity for the club to make money (out of Pule), Pule will be sold to any other team that wants to buy him.

“But as long as he is still with us, he’s our player and there is nothing we can do and we will work with him because he’s prepared to work with us right now.”

Mmodi, who joined Arrows from Uthongathi ahead of the 2020/21 season, has featured in 14 matches this season, scoring four goals along with one assist in the process.
