Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Wayne Arendse says he has been inspired by Al Ahli Saudi head coach Pitso Mosimane.
The Cape Town-born defender played under Mosimane’s leadership for seven years and won seven major titles including the CAF Champions League in 2016.
The 38-year-old, who told this publication that hasn’t officially retired yet, has completed his CAF C license in the past few weeks after drawing inspiration from his former coach.
“Obviously when you’ve been in football so long, you want to stay in the game it’s very difficult to get out,” Arendse told iDiski Times.
“You want to stay whether it’s coaching, whether it’s in the management department, but within football you want to be.
“I was helping the U19’s at Highlands Park that gave me a little bit of the will to coach.
“But I’ll definitely say the former coach, coach Pitso Mosimane, the passion he has in coaching and for the game and how he dissects the game the smallest detail he takes note of. I think that is all about.
“The passion needs to be there, look for the small details within coaching, tactics, have the proper team around you.
“He is one of those coaches that I think not just me but everybody can look up to him, he has done it all. He is probably one guy that has inspired me.”
