Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has verbally agreed to become the new head coach of Brazil, according to ESPN Brazil.
Ancelotti, 63, still has a contract with Los Blancos until June 2024 and has continuously denied growing rumours that he’ll take over the Selecao.
A new report by ESPN Brazil, though, states Ancelotti has “said yes” to Brazil and will take over after the current season with Real Madrid.
The Italian has come under pressure in Madrid, despite leading the club to last seasons’ UEFA Champions League and LaLiga titles after falling eight points behind FC Barcelona on the log.
It is understood that Ancelotti agreed to lead Brazil until after the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, verbally giving his yes to a three-year deal, but he is yet to put pen to paper.
Real’s Brazilian stars Vinicus Jr., Eder Militao and Rodrygo have already been informed of the decision.
When asked about the rumours at the FIFA Club World Cup (before the ESPN article was published), he once again dismissed the talk.
“My situation is very clear, I have a contract with Real Madrid until 2024,” he said, as per Football Espana.
He can add more silverware to his illustrious career after leading his club into the FIFA Club World Cup final, where they will face Al Hilal on Saturday after defeating Al Ahly 4-1 in the semi-final.
It would be Ancelotti’s third Club World Cup title after winning it in 2007 with AC Milan and 2014 with Real Madrid.
Brazil, meanwhile, are understood to be keen on a big-name coach after recent failures to with local-based coaches.
