AmaZulu Make Decision On Mhango

AmaZulu are actively looking to sell striker Gabadinho Mhango as coach Pablo Franco Martin doesn’t see a future for him in his setup, iDiski Times has learnt.

According to close sources, coach Martin does not count on the Malawi international, who joined Usuthu in the swap deal with Tapelo Xoki at the beginning of last season.

Mhango was told to stop training with AmaZulu a few weeks ago in the pre-season, as the club is weighing up options in looking to sell him.

Now, this website has learnt that indeed Mhango “will leave” AmaZulu and he has been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, who, if they want to sign him, will likely have to shell out some decent money since he is still under contract.

AmaZulu have already decided to part ways with Dumisani Zuma, who has since joined Moroka Swallows.

Martin, during the league launch last week, was not straight forward when asked about Mhango’s future.

“We’re talking to some players to come sign for us, we are talking to some players because we’re not going [to use them] or loan them, or those players are coming directly to us because they are interested in going somewhere else with offers,” said Martin.

“This is what happens in all teams all around the world in pre-season and this is happening with all of them and not only [Mhango].”

Franco holds Augustine Kwem, Sede Dion, Bongi Ntuli and new arrival Victor Letsoalo as attacking options for the season, which has made the decision to part ways with Mhango a bit easier ahead of his debut season in the DStv Premiership.

Mhango, who shared the golden shoe award with Peter Shalulile in the 2019/20 season in what was his first season with Pirates, scored six goals in 24 matches last season in all competitions for AmaZulu.

It appears when the 30-year-old was donning Usuthu’s kit in the KZN Premier’s Cup triumph last week, that was the last time he appeared in the colours of the club.

He is not part of the squad for the semi-final of the Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Legacy Cup against Mbabane Swallows at Ulundi Stadium on Saturday.
