All eight quarter-finalists of the CAF Champions League have been confirmed after Al Ahly beat Al Hilal Omdurman on Sunday evening.
The reigning champions left it late but eventually found the winner thanks to a goal by Hussein El Shahat in the 74th minute to secure second place in Group A. Pitso Mosimane’s men took their points tally to 10, while Mamelodi Sundowns topped the group with 16.
Masandawana are only one of two teams who finished the group stages without a defeat, the other being Group C winner ES Setif.
Downs also picked up the most points of all teams in the competition after securing 16 points from their six matches – one more than Wydad Casablanca, who won five of their six games.
