The captains of the 16 DStv Premiership clubs were seemingly confirmed during the league’s launch event.

All captains and coaches were invited to represent their clubs at the DStv Premiership launch of the 2022/23 campaign at the SuperSport TV studios.

While several teams have introduced new leaders, others went with tried and tested faces from previous years.

Denis Onyango will wear the armband for treble-winners Mamelodi Sundowns, while Itumeleng Khune remains Kaizer Chiefs captain despite his bit-part role in 2021/22.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates announced that Innocent Maela will take over the armband after Happy Jele left the club.

Gavin Hunt also appointed a new captain at SuperSport United following the departure of Ronwen Williams to Masandawana, with Onismor Bhasera handed the armband.
