After Al Ahly have written headlines off the pitch this past week, they have announced their squad to face Masry Salloum in the Egyptian Cup.

The Egyptian return to action for a first time since losing the CAF Champions League final 2-0 to Wydad Athletic Club.

There has been a lot of controversy since after the club publicly announced two meetings with coach Pitso Mosimane, casting question marks over his future – so much so that even Mosimane’s wife and agent Moira Thlagale made her way to Egypt.

On Saturday, club president Mahmoud El-Khatib hosted a press conference questioning CAF over awarding Morocco with the hosting rights for the CAFCL final.

Mosimane’s name, though, wasn’t mentioned and the South African coach will return to the sidelines for Al Ahly’s Round of 32 cup match on Sunday evening.

However, ‘Jingles’ will have to make due without several of his regular starters such as Percy Tau or the players in the Egypt squad, who are still with their national teams or traveling back from international duty.

Below is Al Ahly’s squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Moustafa Shobier, Moustafa Makhlouf, Hamza Alaa

Defenders: Mahmoud Metwally, Ramy Rabia, Badr Benoun, Mahmoud Wahid, Mohamed Khalifa, Nossier, Karim Fouad , Mohamed Hany
