Al Ahly have made a statement on Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau after he was excluded from the squad to face Pyramids on Sunday.
The Cairo giants face off against the second-placed side in the league in the quarter-finals of the Egypt Cup on Tau was a notable exclusion from the squad named on Friday.
Having missed out on a third CAF Champions League title in a row, the domestic cup and league have become imperative targets for the Club of the Century.
But they will have to make do without Tau in their pursuit for the silverware for the next month after a medical assessment ruled him out for next month.
The club’s team doctor Ahmed Abu Abla confirmed that the South Africa international suffered an injury in his quadriceps on Friday in their final training session for the game.
Tau has scored eight goals and registered six assists in 27 games for the Red Devils across all competitions this season.
