Basia Michaels, the agent of Brandon Truter, has confirmed her client resigned from his role with AmaZulu due to a “family issue”.

Truter left Usuthu with immediate after pondering his resignation, as first reported by SABC Sport, before the club also confirmed the coach’s departure.

This publication got hold of Truter’s agent to confirm the news, with Michaels telling iDiski Times Truter’s resignation was not based on pressure but due to personal reasons.

“It’s a resignation, he has a family issue,” she told iDiski Times.

“It’s a personal matter, which has taken a priority over his employment and the is currently on his way home to Cape Town as we speak.”

Truter was in charge of AmaZulu for 19 games after taking over from Benni McCarthy, initially as caretaker coach, before being handed a two-year deal in the beginning of the 2022/23 campaign.

AmaZulu also confirmed the news via a statement, saying the club parted ways with Truter.

“AmaZulu Football Club would like to announce that it has parted ways with head coach Brandon Truter. The 52-year-old was in charge of the team for just over five months,” the statement read.

“He impressed since taking over the reins following the departure of Benni McCarthy in March. However, the current season has proved to be difficult and the team has recorded just three DStv Premiership wins.

“Truter’s record is as follows: 19 games, seven wins, seven draws and five losses. We thank him for his cooperation and hard work for the club and wish him luck in his future career.”
