Mosimane Fumes After Back-To-Back Defeats

Al Wahda head coach Pitso Mosimane has posed the question on Video Assistant Refereeing (VAR) Technology after their 2-1 defeat to Baniyas in the UEA Pro League.

It was back-to-back defeats for Mosimane’s side after the loss to champions Al Ahli Shabab, as Baniyas, who were trailing 1-0, profited from a red card and two late goals in a comeback win.

Argentine forward Facundo Kruspzky opened the scoring with his fifth goal in seven games but Abdurahman Saleh was sent off for the visitors just before the break.

To add insult to injury, Baniyas netted a penalty in the 84th minute and a dramatic winner in the ninth minute of injury time.

“I cannot teach the players how to score goals. In the last two matches, we lost due to missing easy opportunities,” he said after the defeat.

“I am sad about the loss, and I feel disappointed. I came to UAE to coach Al Wahda, and I do not know what to say to the players if they are controlling the outcome of the match.

“It is not acceptable for us to lose [against Baniyas], and I am sad because of the refereeing errors. Even the Baniyas players did not receive yellow cards. I do not know why there is VAR. [VAR] problems are becoming more sensitive.”

“We received another undeserved loss today, and I accept this bitter defeat, but what is the benefit of having video technology?”

Al Wahda are in ninth place with six points from five games, seven points behind league leaders Al Ahli.
